Job Description
Unlocking the Light: Integrating the Arts in Juvenile Justice Education (UTL) is a partnership between the Hampshire Educational Collaborative (HEC) and the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services (DYS). UTL provides for artists residencies to demonstrate creative approaches to curriculum while offering job-embedded professional development for teachers serving students in residential facilities under DYS. Through participation in the UTL program, DYS teachers study, practice and refine the integration of multiple art forms into their instruction in English language arts, social studies, math and science.
UTL seeks artists of all disciplines to be Artist Educators to assist classroom teachers through arts-integration residencies. Artists are paid by the residency – Residencies are a minimum of 10 days (spread out over 3 – 10 weeks). We pay a competitive stipend (for contact & planning days), mileage and materials.
Job Qualifications
Successful applicants will be professional artists and or arts organizations with educational experience at the secondary or college level. Experience with professional development a plus. Please submit residency ideas with application.
